Finding Appliances That Are Large Enough

A few years ago when I started a cake business, I was surprised to see how many different orders came in at the same time. It was frustrating for everyone, including my family, because I was storing ingredients in the family fridge. Pretty soon, my husband told me that we needed to invest in some larger appliances, but I didn't know how to start the search. We visited several different stores that had a huge number of options, and I was able to whittle down the appliances that would work for us. This blog is all about finding appliances that are large enough for the things you need to store every day.

Is Your Dryer Trying To Tell You Something? Telltale Signs Your Dryer Needs Immediate Attention

Mikael Manni

If you're like most people, you depend on your dryer to keep you in clean clothes. Unfortunately, when your dryer goes out, you may need to visit the laundromat, which can waste time and money. One way to avoid dryer breakdowns is to take care of the repairs as soon as a problem is identified. In most cases, your dryer will use a system of signs and signals to let you when it's time for repairs. Here are four of those signs and signals you need to watch out for.

You've Got Extreme Temperature Fluctuations

When your dryer is working properly, your clothes will come out warm and dry. For heavier loads, you may need to add a few minutes to the cycle, but that's about it. However, when your dryer is on the verge of a breakdown, you may encounter extreme temperature fluctuations. Those fluctuations are your dryer's way of letting you know it's got a problem that requires immediate attention. Temperature fluctuations include clothing that remains damp after multiple dryer cycles, or clothing that comes out hot to the touch. Both situations require a call to your service technician.

You're Noticing a Strong Burning Odor

If your dryer is running properly and your clothes are coming out dry, you may not think there's an issue. However, if there's a strong burning odor coming from the dryer, you've got a problem. The burning odor could be caused by a couple of different situations. First, the motor may be overheating, leading to the burning odor. Second, your dryer might not be vented properly, which means all the heat is building up inside your dryer compartment. If you're experiencing a burning odor coming from your dryer, you need to schedule repairs right away.

Your Dryer Is Rattling and Shaking

If your dryer is rattling and shaking during operation, you may have a serious problem on your hand. The first thing you need to do is check the dryer load. If you're drying sneakers or other noisy objects, the sound could be caused by those items tumbling around in the dryer. If you're drying an oversized comforter, the shaking could be coming from an uneven distribution of weight inside the dryer compartment. If neither of those issues is occurring, the rattling and shaking is an indication that your dryer is in need of immediate attention.

Your Clothes Aren't Tumbling

Finally, if you have a full load in the dryer and you can't hear anything tumbling around in the dryer compartment, it's time to call for repairs. When your dryer is operating properly, you should be able to hear the clothes tumbling through the dry cycle. If you can't, it's an indication that your dryer isn't tumbling properly—or at all. If that's the case, your dryer will require repairs as soon as possible.
