Finding Appliances That Are Large Enough

A few years ago when I started a cake business, I was surprised to see how many different orders came in at the same time. It was frustrating for everyone, including my family, because I was storing ingredients in the family fridge. Pretty soon, my husband told me that we needed to invest in some larger appliances, but I didn't know how to start the search. We visited several different stores that had a huge number of options, and I was able to whittle down the appliances that would work for us. This blog is all about finding appliances that are large enough for the things you need to store every day.

Eliminate Scratches And Stains From A Glass Stovetop

Mikael Manni

If the glass stovetop in your kitchen has a few, small scratches and stains on its surface, remove them by completing the following steps. Once the stovetop has been restored to its original condition, protect it from additional damage by following some basic tips for caring for these kitchen appliances.

Materials

  • baking soda
  • water
  • bowl
  • whisk
  • silicone sponges
  • distilled white vinegar
  • glass cleaning agent
  • lint-free cloths

Eliminate Scratches

Add equal amounts of baking soda and water to a bowl. Use a whisk to blend the ingredients. Use a silicone sponge to apply an even amount of the mixture to each section of glass that contains a scratch. Press the sponge against one of the scratches. Move the the sponge in small circles, as you consistently apply pressure to the back of it. Add more of the baking soda and water mixture if the scratch does not fade with the first treatment. Eliminate the remaining scratches in the same manner.

Remove Stubborn Stains

Pour a small amount of distilled vinegar into the bowl that contains the baking soda and water mixture. Stir the contents in the bowl until they are thoroughly mixed. Use a clean silicone sponge to apply a layer of the mixture to the stained glass. Drape a warm, damp cloth over each treated surface while waiting several minutes for the mixture to loosen the stains.

Press a sponge against stained glass and move the sponge in small circles. Again, apply pressure to the backside of the sponge as you attempt to lift each stain from the glass. Add more of the mixture to the stains if you are not able to successfully remove them with the first attempt.

Clean And Protect The Stovetop

Spray the glass surface with an cleaning agent that is designed solely for glass stovetops. Use a lint-free cloth to wipe the stovetop's surface. Once the entire stovetop is clean, move a clean, lint-free cloth over the glass surface to eliminate any traces of the cleaning agent and to dry the glass surface. Protect the glass from further damage and staining by avoiding the use of abrasive cleaning supplies and tools when removing stains. Always use products that are designed to clean glass cooktops.

After preparing a meal in pots or pans on the stovetop, lift each piece of cookware upwards before moving it to the sink or dishwasher. This will prevent many scratches which are often caused by sliding items across a stovetop's surface. Avoid placing utensils or additional cooking supplies directly on the stovetop. Instead, set them on a cloth that is not close to any of the stovetop's burners or on a countertop that is next to the stovetop.
